Catford Mews Comedy Club

Come down to the mews to watch 6 comedians for great night of jokes and laughter on Thursday 2 May 2024 at 8.00pm. Invite a friend, get a drink at the bar and settle down for a night of live entertainment at your favourite community venue. The comedians performing on the night are: Dick Denham Dick is a non-binary thirtysomething comedian, writer, and humanist wedding celebrant. A hit with queer and straight crowds alike, Dick has audiences in stitches with their surreal observations on being genderqueer in a heteronormative world, and the aspects of British culture that we all love to be thoroughly indifferent about. Dick was a semi-finalist in the 2Northdown New Act Competition 2021, a runner-up in the Comedy Bloomers LGBTQ+ New Act Competition 2022, and a semi-finalist in the Leicester Square New Act Competition 2022. Leslie Gold Native New Jerseyan-turned-Londoner Leslie Gold is the cool auntie you didn't know you needed. As seen at the Comedy Store. "Leslie Gold breaks new feminist ground." - Kate Copstick, The Scotsman; "Leslie’s clearly got experienced and savvy comedy chops." - Edinburgh Reviews; So You Think You're Funny Semi-Finalist 2021, West End New Act One to Watch 2022, Funny Women Stage Award short list 2023 and West End New Old Act of the Year finalist 2023. Victoria Howden Victoria is a musical comedian with a dream of turning her life into a West End show. She finds a show tune in every situation and lives most of the time in an imaginary musical, which is why she almost got run over by a very large aircraft. "Brilliant, witty and memorable. The hills are alive with the sound of Victoria Howden" James Of Walsh reviews. Andy Onions High-octane Andy Onions (Resident MC of the Timeout recommended Freedom Fridge) takes you on a nonsensical PowerPoint based multimedia journey. Films, gameshows, computer games and obscure childhood sports are woven into Andy’s daft tales. If you love Street Fighter 2, Superman or quizzes then you’re going to love Andy. ”Some say Andy put the compoop into nincompoop. I say he put the nin in there too” (Tim Shishodia). Juliet Myers Managing to mix silliness with edginess, writer and comedian Juliet Meyers has a chatty gag-driven style that allows her to interact with the crowd; this makes her much in demand both as a comedian and an MC across the UK comedy circuit, Europe and Australia. She has also had sell-out shows at Melbourne Comedy Festival, as well as at Edinburgh Fringe three years running. Juliet has also written for Sarah Millican’s TV Programme and Elephant In The Room, Sarah Millican’s BBC Radio 4 show), 8/10 Cats and Mock The Week. “Devilish jokes” - The Scotsman; “Smart and very funny” - The Independent. Richard Todd Performing for 11 years, Richard won the Amused Moose Laugh-Off 2012, was shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award 2013, won Shaftesbury Fringe Best Show 2017 and was a Chortle One to Watch 2018. “A talent entirely of his own. The left-field subject matter he tackles is rooted in the everyday, and we identify with him for all his wildly eccentric thoughts and behaviour” – Fest ****; “Some comics have a gift of words that touches their work with wonder. Richard Todd is such a comic” - The Scotsman ****; “Warm, personal, unique, very funny.” - Chortle ****. The MC for the night will be Chris Douce. “Strong jokes delivered. Chris has potential” Compass Comedy Review. Golden Jester semi-finalist. The show will start at 8:00pm and run until approx.10:30pm.
